民國五十六年前鎮漁港落成，台灣遠洋漁業開始發展，前鎮漁港周邊有許多冷凍廠，冰凍著魷魚、秋刀魚、鮪魚等遠洋漁獲，「出魚班」的工作就是搬運這些冷凍庫裡的漁貨，有工就做，沒工就休息打牌。
大副夏華(Yiyung)六月將前往寒冷的北海道捕撈秋刀魚，五年前他也曾在出魚班工作，受父親影響決定上遠洋漁船工作…。他們都來自台灣的東部，默默地為遠洋漁業付出難以言語的辛勞。

The Taiwan fishing industry began to expand around the late 1960s, and with this development came a large number of cold storages. Shia-hua (Yiyung) used to work at a cold storage, but is now headed on a fishing trip to catch mackerel in the frosty waters of Hokkaido, Japan. This is the story about indigenous people who have devoted themselves to the hard life of ocean fishing.
